FO: Baby’s (and I don’t mean mine) First Hand-knit Socks

These socks fall under a few knit-alongs: firstly, both pairs for Sock-a-Month Knitalong 3; next, the blue pair for Project Spectrum; and finally, the green pair for Green Socks KAL.

Jacob's First Hand-knit Socks

Details:

The blue striped socks are my own top-down pattern in Froehlich Wolle Blauband started the 30th of January and finished on the 2nd of February… I basically made a mini-version of the generic socks that I always knit everyone. I think they are a little bit long (3.75″ from back of heel to toe) for a baby as wee as my 7-week-old cousin, but he’ll grow into them.

As big as an ipod?

The green socks are the same made-up pattern as the blue striped socks. They’re made of the leftover Trekking XXL #66 from Vince’s Birthday Socks that I made during last year’s Socktoberfest. I cast-on the first sock on the 3rd of February and finished the second sock on the 6th.

I started these on the replacement Blue Sky Alpaca dpns, but had to change over to my trusty INOX needles because the Blue Sky needles were splitting at the ends again! One even gave me a splinter - ow! Knitting shouldn’t hurt… I have emailed the lovely customer service lady again and we shall see what happens - I may just return them at this point.

Hi Lauren! I wandered over here from SAM 3… Your socks are really lovely, especially the Hedera and the Pomatomus!

I wonder if you might divulge where you are moving to? (At least neighborhood…) I currently live in Manhattan (it’s a long story and a really good deal) but am basically being kicked out in July. I am afraid I am going to have to move to Rockland County to afford rent! (And I work here in the Manhattan. I am super sad and anxious about the whole thing.) Anyway, funny coincidence, my downstairs neighbor hears water in her ceiling when we flush the toilet… uh oh - spells trouble for us, since they want to come and look at OUR toilet first (which means time off work etc. etc. etc. GRRR!)

OK, rant over. Glad to here your ceiling problem was not so big! :)

PS Another coincidence - my sister’s name is Lauren!
